Half A Million Dollars Just Was Awarded To These 10 Detroit Small Businesses Through Motor City Match

Small businesses are getting a boost up in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park.

The Detroit Economic Growth Corporation announced the winners of the 13th round of the Motor City Match on Monday. The awards ceremony was held at Coyote Hawk in Islandview.

Coyote Hawk is a co-working space for designers and entrepreneurs and was a Round 7 Motor City Match cash grant awardee. The space officially opened last week.

Motor City Match is a program that helps new businesses open in the neighborhoods around the city by providing grants and resources to get business owners started.

The program is ran by the City of Detroit, the DEGC, the Economic Development Corporation of the City of Detroit and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The ten winners received cash grants between $20,000 up to $100,000 for a total of $500,000.

• Michigan and Trumbull – $55,000
  • A Detroit-style pizza company
  • 1439 W. Elizabeth St.
• Eats All Good – $50,000
  • Vegan, gluten free snacks
  • 2910 E. Jefferson Ave.
• Order THY Steps Learning Center – $50,000
  • Childcare development and learning center
  • 10605 Mack Ave.
• Poppies/Rose’s Fine Food – $50,000
  • Full service restaurant and bakery serving Polish inspired fare
  • 1400 Van Dyke Rd.
• Mt. Elliott Studios – $25,000
  • Co-working art and design space
  • 2915 Mt. Elliott St.
• The Lip Bar LLC – $20,000
  • Vegan & Cruelty-Free cosmetic company
  • Shinola Annex 1400 Woodward Ave.
• The Vehicle Services Group, LLC – $20,000
  • Mobile vehicle steam detailing service
  • 309 Harper Ave.
